Rodeos in 2010
Hey, well, I hope we don’t lose any more rodeos. Rodeos require so much money for venue and stock contractor that they are an expensive proposition, and in today’s economy, its hard to come up with the sponsorship money. I think rodeos are going to have to be part of a bigger or other events, just to distribute the costs over greater participation. I’m hoping the Bay Area Chapter-CA has good results with their rodeo and festival, and Calgary does well with their rodeo. Unfortunately, you need the crowds of the big urban gay areas but those areas lack afordable venues that can draw attendance. I’m hoping Philly, DC, LA & Reno return and support can be found for new rodeos like Nashville. To me, its all about charity, but its also all about the cost and whether it can be covered.
