I grew up in Dodge City, KS, on my grandparents’ farm. My dad was a cowboy who loved rodeoing. I enjoyed going to see my dad and uncles/aunts compete at rodeos—it seemed like every weekend I was at every rodeo they were going to.

My dad, Jack Downey, passed away on August 11, 2017. To me, he was more than a stepfather—he felt like my biological dad, and his loss has left a lasting impact on our family.
